Efforts to locate Atiq Ahmed's wife Shaista Parveen intensify: Police
Kaushambi (Uttar Pradesh), April 19: Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday conducted raids in search of Shaista Parveen, wife of slain gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, in Kaushambi.
"Raids were conducted in search of Shaista Parveen, wife of gangster Atiq Ahmed. A search operation was conducted after receiving information about some criminals hiding. The operation lasted for about 2 hours. A drone camera was also used in the operation. However, the operation did not prove successful today," Samar Bahadur, ASP, Kaushambi stated.
Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were murdered on Saturday while being escorted for a medical test in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This came barely days after Atiq Ahmed's son Asad was killed in an encounter.
Atiq Ahmed was charged with the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal in 2005, as well as the murder of Umesh Pal, a key witness in the murder of the BSP leader, in February of this year.
Police in a press briefing on Saturday night said that as many as three people were arrested after ganglord-turned-politician and his brother was shot dead in the full media glare.
All three attackers voluntarily turned themselves in and have been kept in the custody of the police.
