Ex-student of Al-Falah University linked to terror cases, key figure in 2008 blast case
PTC News Desk: As the investigation into the Delhi blast case deepens, another key revelation has come to light. A former student of Al-Falah University in Faridabad’s Dhauj village has had a long-standing link with terrorism. The university seems to have several connections with the terror cases in the past.
Fugitive terrorist Mirza Shadab Baig, who was involved in five bomb blasts in 2008, had also studied at the same place. He completed his BTech in electronics and instrumentation in 2007 and vanished soon after travelling abroad on his real passport. He has been missing since September 19, 2008 — the day the Batla House encounter took place.
Because of this, several investigation and security agencies across India — including the Delhi Police Special Cell, Gujarat ATS, UP ATS, J&K Police and Haryana Police — are now jointly looking into the case.
On Friday, a Punjab Police team also visited Al Falah University and questioned many staff members and students for several hours. They also gathered details about a doctor who was recently detained in Pathankot.
The 45-year-old doctor had been teaching at a medical college in Pathankot for three years and had earlier worked for four years at Al Falah. He had stayed in touch with many of his former classmates. The Punjab Police collected information about his time at the university and his connections with Dr Umer Un-Nabi and others. Sources said that if the agencies had taken even a little longer to uncover this “white-collar” terror module, the network could have grown much bigger.
Meanwhile, the NIA again detained a cab driver for questioning last night. Sources said the agency had brought Dr Muzammil from J&K on a production warrant and was questioning him and the taxi driver together. The Nuh Police also checked the Jamia Madina Uloom madrasa in Jhimrawat village on Thursday, but nothing suspicious was found.
