Night of noodles turns into morning of tragedy: Family of five found dead at home in Greater Noida; food poisoning suspected
PTC News Desk: Five members of a family, including three children aged between 3 and 11, were found dead at their home in a village in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday. Police suspect possible food poisoning, as the family had reportedly eaten noodles the previous night. However, the exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
The deceased have been identified as Mahesh, 37, his wife Lalita, 35, and their three children — Laddu, 11, Mishti, 7, and Sakshat, 3.
Police received information about the deaths on Saturday morning. Local police, senior officers, an ambulance and a team from the Food Safety Department reached the spot. A forensic team and a police field unit inspected the scene and began collecting scientific evidence. The bodies are being sent for post-mortem examinations.
Food poisoning suspected
During the initial inquiry, Mahesh’s mother and some neighbours reportedly told police that the family had eaten noodles the previous night. All five family members were found dead the following morning.
Frothing at the mouth was also reported, but officials have not confirmed whether it is connected to the deaths.
Police said food poisoning was one possible cause, but the exact reason would be established only after the post-mortem examinations and other scientific tests. The investigation is ongoing, and police said further legal action would be taken based on the findings of the medical and forensic examinations.
