Thane explosion: 4 killed, 25 injured as massive fire breaks out at chemical factory

Thane explosion: At least four killed and 25 injured as a massive fire breaks out at factory in Thane’s Thane's Dombiwali after a massive explosion on Thursday. 

The fire erupted following a boiler explosion inside the chemical factory situated in MIDC Phase 2, officials reported. 


Witnesses mentioned hearing three blasts at the factory. Locals stated that around 30 people have been rescued from the building so far.

More than 10 fire engines, along with ambulances, are present at the scene. Officials estimate that it will take over four hours to extinguish the fire.

After a boiler exploded at the plant of a chemical company in Maharashtra's Thane on Thursday, state deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that eight people were evacuated from the incident site.

According to the officials, five to six employees were injured at the incident site.

In a post on X, Fadnavis said, "The incident of a boiler explosion at Amudan Chemical Company in Dombivli MIDC is tragic. Eight people were involved in this incident; they have been brought out. Arrangements have been made to treat the injured and more ambulances have been kept ready. I have discussed this with the collector and he is also reaching the spot within 10 minutes. Teams of NDRF, TDRF, and fire brigade have been called. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured."

The impact of the blast was so severe that it shattered the windows of houses nearby.
