Haryana crime: Son of former BJP Mandal president Shiv Kumar Sharma murdered in Jind
PTC Web Desk: In a shocking incident, Vikas Sharma, son of former BJP Mandal president Shiv Kumar Sharma, was allegedly murdered by unidentified assailants in Haryana's Jind district. The attackers launched a ferocious knife attack on Vikas, stabbing him multiple times, including a fatal blow to his heart. Vikas was returning home late Thursday night along with his brother-in-law and a doctor friend when the incident occurred.
The assailants, after a brief argument, surrounded the group on Ramapura Road and attacked them with knives. While Vikas suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead upon arrival at a hospital in Panipat, his companions, including his brother-in-law and Dr Anil Sharma, were also injured but are now reportedly out of danger.
According to police reports, Vikas ran a private clinic in Safidon and was not a doctor himself but employed medical professionals in his facility. Vikas had married a year and a half ago and was the father of a five-month-old daughter. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, though the police suspect a possible professional rivalry, as Vikas was allegedly called to the crime scene by another doctor from a nearby clinic. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area and have questioned several suspects.
The family of the deceased has given the administration a 24-hour ultimatum to apprehend the culprits, threatening to take to the streets and block roads if justice is not served. Vikas’s father, Shiv Kumar Sharma, expressed his outrage, criticising the government's failure to ensure law and order. He questioned how citizens could feel safe when even the son of a BJP leader was brutally murdered in broad daylight.
Police officials have assured the public that the investigation is underway and that they would soon apprehend the accused. The police are also examining CCTV footage.
