Haryana shocker: 17-year-old girl shot by stalker in Faridabad’s Ballabhgarh; attacker on the run
PTC Web Desk: In a shocking incident near the national capital, a 17-year-old girl was shot by a stalker in Ballabhgarh, Faridabad district, on Monday evening. The teenager, who sustained two bullet injuries, is currently undergoing treatment. The police have launched a manhunt for the accused, who is at large.
According to preliminary information, the attack took place in Shyam Colony when the girl was returning home from a coaching class. The accused, identified as Jatin Mangla, had allegedly been stalking the victim for several days after she rejected his advances.
CCTV footage from the scene shows the accused waiting in an alley, standing next to his motorcycle and appearing to conceal a weapon in his bag. As the girl and her friends entered the lane, Jatin pulled out a gun and fired two rounds, hitting her on the shoulder and abdomen. The victim’s friends fled in panic as the shooter escaped on his bike after the attack.
The police said the weapon used in the crime has been recovered, and a search operation is underway. “The accused was known to the victim, and she has identified him. An FIR has been registered, and the Crime Branch is assisting in the investigation,” a police spokesperson confirmed.
The victim’s sister said the teenager was preparing for her board exams and usually took the same route home from her coaching centre. She alleged that Jatin had been following her sister for days. “His family had requested us not to file a complaint, promising it wouldn’t happen again. We trusted them, but the next day he attacked her,” she said.
The police have appealed to the public to share any information regarding the whereabouts of the accused.
