Heavy rain brings relief in Delhi-NCR, causes waterlogging; flight advisory issued
PTC Web Desk: Parts of Delhi and the national capital region (NCR) experienced heavy rainfall on Tuesday morning, providing relief from the sweltering heat amid the festive season. Areas, including Noida and Ghaziabad, also saw significant downpours, accompanied by strong winds, turning roads slippery and traffic slow.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi NCR is expected to remain generally cloudy, with light rain or drizzle likely throughout the day. Meanwhile, Delhi and Gurugram remain under an orange alert until 2:55 pm, while Noida and Ghaziabad are under a yellow alert.

The heavy rainfall, while offering respite from high temperatures, also caused localised waterlogging. The Zakhira underpass in Delhi was inundated, leading to inconvenience for commuters.
Meanwhile, airlines have issued advisories for passengers due to weather-related disruptions. IndiGo warned that flight operations might face delays and urged travellers to leave early, considering road conditions.
“Persistent rainfall and thunderstorms are currently affecting Delhi, which may lead to possible delays in flight operations. Travelers are advised to check their flight status on our website or app and allow extra travel time,” IndiGo posted on X.
Air India also cautioned passengers, stating that flights to and from Delhi could be impacted, urging travellers to monitor flight status and allow additional time due to slow-moving traffic.
The Delhi Airport, however, confirmed that flight operations are currently normal. An advisory issued at 11:56 am said: “Our on-ground teams are working closely with all stakeholders to ensure smooth and hassle-free travel for passengers.”
