Several low-lying areas, including Kurla, Sion, Dadar, and Parel, were significantly impacted with visuals showing vehicles wading through flooded streets early in the day.

Heavy rain lashes in Mumbai as monsoon arrives early; streets waterlogged, flights affected

PTC News Desk: With the early onse of monsoon this year, heavy rains coupled with thunderstorm lashed in Mumbai on Monday morning casuing widepsread waterlogging and transport disruptions. Several trains and over 250 flights were affected. 


Several low-lying areas, including Kurla, Sion, Dadar, and Parel, were significantly impacted with visuals showing vehicles wading through flooded streets early in the day.

Meanwhile Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took stock of the situation in rain prone and affected areas. He also held discussions with disaster management officials to assess preparedness and response efforts. He has directed the authorities to take all the effective measures . The entire disaster management response system has been directed to stay on alert with swift deployment of relief and rescue operations. 

As the city batters with unprecedented heavy downpour, local train services across all three major lines- Central, Western, and Harbour- are running behind schedule. Major waterlogged locations include Shakkar Panchayat, Sion Circle, Dadar TT, Hindmata, JJ Madavi Post Office, Kurne Chowk, Bindumadhav Junction (Worli), and Macharji Joshi Marg (Five Gardens).
