High alert in Rajasthan following airstrikes on Pakistan; flights suspended, schools and railways affected
PTC Web Desk: Following India’s airstrikes on terrorist targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor, Rajasthan has been placed on high alert, particularly in border districts.
Flight operations at Kishangarh and Jodhpur airports have been suspended until May 10 due to security concerns. Additionally, Bikaner Airport is closed for the day, and IndiGo Airlines has cancelled all its flights to and from Bikaner until May 10.
As per officials, daily 16 flights operate from Kishangarh and Jodhpur combined, all of which are now grounded.
In light of the security situation, North Western Railway has cancelled all leaves of its officers and employees, ordering them to report to duty immediately. A directive to this effect has been issued by the General Manager to all Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) and departmental heads.
On the civilian front, schools remained closed on Wednesday in four border districts—Sri Ganganagar, Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Bikaner. District Collectors cancelled examinations and official leaves, directing staff to remain in their respective headquarters.
In Sri Ganganagar, a full blackout was observed overnight in several villages near the border. The local authorities have issued a high-alert advisory and instructed all departments to operate in emergency readiness mode.
