Himachal Pradesh: Dalai Lama returns to Kangra after medical check-up in Delhi, receives warm welcome from devotees

Kangra, October 12: Tibetan spiritual leader, his Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, returned to the Kangra airport, Himachal Pradesh, on Thursday morning after a medical check-up in Delhi. He had embarked on his journey to the national capital from Dharamsala on October 8. The arrival of the revered Tibetan spiritual leader was marked by devotees clad in traditional Tibetan attire, extending a warm welcome to him.

One devotee, Samden Thundup, said, "Today, we have all gathered here to receive His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama at the airport. He had some health concerns, which prompted his visit to Delhi for a medical checkup. Now that he is back, we are overjoyed and eager to receive his blessings."

Another devotee, Tenzin Dhawa, added, "We are here to greet His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, and wish him good health following his medical examination. Today, we welcome him with a Tibetan song."

Devotees formed a queue, eagerly anticipating the arrival of the Tibetan leader. Shortly after, the Dalai Lama emerged from the airport, accompanied by monks, and proceeded to his car for the journey to Dharamsala.

Earlier, it was reported that the Dalai Lama had missed a scheduled session for Taiwanese teachings on October 2-3 due to health issues. His planned visits to Gangtok and Salugara were also postponed in light of ongoing flood relief operations in Sikkim.

The office of the Dalai Lama released a statement saying, "In view of the recent disaster in Sikkim caused by floods and the ongoing focus of the state machinery in relief efforts, the planned visit of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Gangtok and Salugara scheduled from October 16 to 22 has been postponed until further notice. We apologise for the inconvenience caused. Our prayers are with the people and the state of Sikkim."
