Independence Day 2023: Delhi Police beef up security ahead of August 15

Independence Day 2023: Ahead of Independence Day 2023, Delhi Police ramped up security, stepped up checks, and security measures across the National Capital. 

While speaking to media, Delhi Police official said, "Like every year, this year too, the Delhi Police is very professional in its approach. Delhi Police has planned adequate, robust, and failproof security arrangements." 


Meanwhile, DCP, North Sagar Singh Kalsi  said, "PM Modi will hoist the National Flag here (Red Fort)...We are very proud of this...It becomes our responsibility to ensure that the security asrrangements are absolutely strict."

Delhi Police imposes Section 144 in these area 

Countdown begins for Independence Day 2023 and Delhi Police imposed prohibitory orders under CrPC Section 144 in several areas such as Rajghat New Delhi,  ITO New Delhi, Red Fort, etc of New Delhi in order to maintain law and order situation of the national capital of India.


Prohibition on operation of sub-conventional airborne devices 

Delhi Police also imposed prohibition on the sub-conventional airborne devices such as paragliding, hand gliding, hot air balloons, powered aircraft, para-jumping , etc. 

The restriction on the aerial devices has been imposed within national capital from July 22 to August 16 due to security reasons. 

Notably, Independence Day 2023 is celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotism on August 15th every year which aims to honour the brave freedom fighters and bravehearts who sacrificed their lives for the country.

This day marks the anniversary of India's independence from British colonial rule in 1947. The main event takes place at the historic Red Fort in Delhi, where Prime Minister is scheduled to address the nation on the occasion from the ramparts of the historic Red Fort. 

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, recently announced the 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' campaign during his Mann Ki Baat broadcast.
