Independence Day 2023 HIGHLIGHTS: Prime Minister Modi rallies for a campaign against corruption, dynasties, and appeasement
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated on Tuesday that if India is to become "Vishwaguru," people must live in harmony and have access to good education, health care, and uninterrupted electricity.
Speaking at his government's Independence Day ceremony in north Delhi's Chhatrasal Stadium, he congratulated the people of the national capital as well as the country on the occasion and paid honour to freedom fighters, soldiers, and achievements in many disciplines.

New Delhi, August 15: Even as his absence from the flag hoisting event at the Red Fort raised the hackles in the ruling BJP at the Centre, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday raised the tricolour at the AICC headquarters in the national capital.
On his absence from the 77th Independence Day event at the iconic monument, Kharge told reporters cited an "eye-related problem", adding that due to the tight security arrangements in and around Red Fort, he wouldn't have arrived on time to raise the national flag at the AICC headquarters if he had attended the main event.
The Indian mission in Kathmandu on Tuesday marked the 77th anniversary of Independence and organised a celebration.
The celebration was part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ which is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate 75 years of progressive India and remarkable achievements by Indians in all spheres of human endeavour.
Finally, Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh unveiled the "special song" titled ‘Soul’ on Tuesday featuring actor Nia Sharma.
Taking to Instagram, Zee Music treated fans with the full song video and captioned it, “Feel the energy surge, as #Soul by #YoYoHoneySingh takes center stage SONG OUT NOW!”
More than 88 million selfies of people from across the country with the national flag were uploaded on the central government's Har Ghar Tiranga website till 12 noon on Tuesday under the three-day campaign being run since Prime Minister Narendra Modi's fresh clarion call.

Indigenous 105-mm Light Field Guns were used this year for the first time for the ceremonial gun salute at the iconic Red Fort in Delhi during 77 th Independence Day celebrations on Tuesday.
The gun was earlier used for the first time for a 21-gun salute during the Republic Day parade this year. The Indian guns have replaced the British 25-pounder guns.
Notably, the 21-gun salute is conducted by a specifically-designed cartridge or a blank round which is used to create the sound of firing as opposed to actual shells being fired.
The Indian Air Force Headquarters (Vayu Bhawan) in New Delhi will be illuminated in tricolour today to mark the 77th anniversary of the country's Independence Day.
The IAF HQ was also lit up in tricolour yesterday evening. The same hues will be cast upon the headquarters today on Independence Day.

On the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, veteran actor Anupam Kher dropped a video message that left fans with goosebumps as he addressed the countrymen on behalf of our national flag.
