India-Pakistan tension: India issues NOTAM for exercise along Pakistan border in Rajasthan
PTC Web Desk: India has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) for a large-scale air exercise along the southern sector of the Indo-Pakistan border, scheduled for May 7 and 8. The Indian Air Force (IAF) will carry out the drill along the International Border in Rajasthan, beginning at 3.30 pm on May 7 and concluding at 9.30 pm on May 8. During this period, airspace in the region will be restricted to ensure safe execution of the exercise.
The exercise will involve the deployment of fighter jets, surveillance aircraft, and other aerial platforms, enhancing the IAF’s combat preparedness. While the Ministry of Defence has not officially linked the drill to current regional tensions, its timing and location are seen as a strong signal of India’s military vigilance. The move comes shortly after a cross-border terror attack, raising security concerns along the western frontier.
India’s air exercise follows a recent decision to close its airspace to all Pakistani military and civilian aircraft from April 30 to May 23. This retaliatory step came after Pakistan imposed similar restrictions on Indian flights in response to the Pahalgam Terror Attack. The mutual airspace closures mark a sharp uptick in diplomatic and military friction between the two nations.
Tensions escalate along the LoC
Along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, the situation remains volatile. The Indian Army has intensified counter-offensives against ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces, particularly in areas like Naushera, Sunderbani, and Baramulla. Reports suggest Pakistani troops have been withdrawing from some forward posts, signaling potential morale issues amid mounting pressure from Indian forces.
