IndiGo pilot slams breaks, aborts takeoff in Lucknow; 151 passengers safe

PTC News Desk: An IndiGo flight carrying 151 passengers, including Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav, was forced to abort takeoff after failing to lift off properly at Lucknow airport.

The incident took place around 11 a.m. on Saturday when a Delhi-bound flight struggled to lift off as it neared the end of the runway.

According to eyewitnesses and airport officials, the pilot quickly applied emergency brakes, bringing the aircraft to a halt and averting a possible runway overrun. All 151 passengers and crew were safely evacuated without injuries, and later accommodated on another flight to their destination.

This comes after a series of recent flight-related scares involving IndiGo. Earlier in September, an Abu Dhabi-bound flight returned to Kochi shortly after takeoff due to a technical issue. IndiGo confirmed that flight 6E 1403 from Kochi to Abu Dhabi detected a technical problem on September 6, prompting the pilots to return as a precaution. The plane landed safely and is now undergoing maintenance.

In a separate incident in August, an IndiGo Airbus A321’s tail struck the runway during a go-around attempt at Mumbai airport amid heavy rain. The aircraft later made another approach and landed safely after the weather-related maneuver.
