Israel-Palestine conflict: India issues advisory to citizens in Israel amid escalating tensions; provides emergency helpline
New Delhi, October 7: Amidst the escalating tensions between Israel and Palestine, India has issued a cautionary advisory to its citizens in Israel, urging them to exercise extreme vigilance. The Indian embassy in Israel has also established a helpline for emergencies.
The advisory states, "Given the current situation in Israel, Indian nationals in Israel are advised to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines provided by local authorities. Please exercise caution, limit unnecessary movements, and stay near safety shelters. For more information, refer to the Israeli Home Front Command website (https://www.oref.org.il/en) or their preparedness brochure. In case of emergencies, contact us at 97235226748 or leave a message at cons1.telaviva@mea.gov.in. The Embassy staff is available for further assistance."

Earlier on Saturday, Israel declared a "state of readiness for war" in response to a heavy rocket barrage from the Gaza Strip and infiltrations into its southern regions, resulting in casualties.
The militant group Hamas, along with other terrorist organisations, launched thousands of rockets towards Israel from the blockaded Gaza Strip. Additionally, militants entered southern Israeli cities, seizing control of key locations, including a police station.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a video statement, declaring, "We are in a state of war, and we will emerge victorious."
Amid Israel-Palestine conflict, Netanyahu's statement conveyed a stern warning: "Our adversary will face consequences unlike any it has ever experienced."
In response, the Israeli military initiated 'Operation Iron Swords' against Hamas militants, and the Air Force launched a precision attack involving numerous fighter jets to target the Palestinian militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
