Kejriwal summons Punjab MLAs on February 11 amid poaching concerns
PTC News Desk: Days after thumping defeat in Delhi assembly polls, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal has summoned Punjab MLAs and ministers for a meeting in Delhi on February 11.
This follows allegations from some state Congress leaders who claim to be in contact with nearly 20 AAP MLAs. The party has previously accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of attempting to lure its MLAs through "Operation Lotus" in the state.
All the MLAs and ministers of the party have been directed to cancel their any sort of engagements on Tuesday and ensure their attendance in the meeting which will be held at Kapurthala House, the official residence of Punjab Chief Minister when he visits the national capital.
Notably, Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann is currently in Delhi and subsequently postponing cabinet meeting to February 13 which was scheduled for Monday.
The meeting, which was the first in four months, was originally scheduled for February 6 but was postponed to February 10. Following the party's poor showing in Delhi, where it won only 22 out of 70 seats, the focus of the leadership appears to have shifted to Punjab, the only state they currently hold.
While the meeting's agenda remains confidential, it is believed that Kejriwal will likely give the party legislators a motivational speech, urging them to reconnect with voters as "aam aadmi" in their constituencies and avoid being influenced by the "advantages that come with power."
