Kolkata doctor murder: The accused in the murder and r@pe of a doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sanjay Roy has told his lawyer, Kavita Sarkar, that he is innocent and being framed.
According to his lawyer, he maintained his innocence throughout the polygraph test. TOI stated that Sanjay Roy was asked ten questions, including what he did next after allegedly murdering the victim. He informed the CBI that the query was invalid because he did not murder her.
Roy said during the polygraph test that the woman was unconscious when he entered the hospital's seminar hall, according to the report. He claimed to have seen the woman covered in blood inside the seminar room on August 9. He claimed to have hurried out of the room in a panic.
Sanjay Roy also claimed that he did not know the victim and was being framed.
When asked why he didn't tell the police if he was innocent, Roy explained that he was afraid no one would believe him. Kavita Sarkar informed the media that the culprit could be someone else.
"If he had access to the seminar hall so easily, it shows that there was a security lapse on that night and someone else could have taken advantage of that," she added.
The trainee doctor was raped and murdered in the hospital's seminar hall. She had been sleeping in the hall during her 36-hour shift. An autopsy revealed sexual assault and 25 external and internal injuries to her body. Sanjay Roy was arrested on August 10, one day after the brutal murder, based on CCTV footage.
