Kolkata doctor murder: More chilling details have surfaced in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, with the post-mortem report revealing that the accused hit her so hard that the glasses on her spectacles cracked, piercing her eyes.
The 31-year-old post-graduate trainee, who worked at the city's renowned state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, was r@ped and murdered inside the institution's seminar hall, and her body was discovered on Friday morning.
Sanjoy Roy, a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police, was detained for the crime.
The post-mortem report revealed that she had sustained several injuries. Cuts were found on her hands and face. According to the investigation, the eye injuries found on her body were most likely caused by shards of glass from the spectacles.
"Homicidal injuries are antemortem in nature with an indication of sexual penetration," the post-mortem report read. This suggests that the trainee doctor's wounds were inflicted while she was still alive, and injuries to her private areas showed that she had been r@ped.
After brutally beating and sexually assaulting her, the accused thrashed and smothered the trainee doctor to death. The report indicates that the incident occurred between 3 and 5 a.m. on Friday.
According to the police, following the murder, Sanjoy Roy returned home and slept late. Officials said that he washed the clothes he was wearing to remove evidence, and his blood-stained shoes were discovered during the search.
According to local media reports, Roy admitted to the crime after police began questioning him. According to sources, he showed no remorse and said, "Hang me if you want". His phone was found to be loaded with pornogr@phic material.
