Land-for-jobs case: ED calls Tejashwi Yadav for inquiry in money laundering case, asked to appear on Jan 5
Land-for-jobs case: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has reissued summons to Tejashwi Yadav, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, in connection with a money laundering case linked to a land-for-jobs scheme. According to sources cited by news agency PTI, Yadav has been directed to appear for questioning on January 5.
This case revolves around a purported scandal that took place between 2004 and 2009, during the tenure of Lalu Yadav as the Railway Minister under the Congress-led coalition government. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) alleges that there were irregularities in the appointment process within the railways, deviating from the established norms and procedures of Indian Railways for recruitment. The accusation further asserts that individuals who secured positions in the railways as "substitutes," either directly or through their families, subsequently sold land to members of Lalu Yadav's family at significantly reduced prices.
Despite these allegations, the Yadav family has vehemently refuted the claims, attributing them to the BJP-led central government's purported misuse of central agencies.
The fresh summons to Tejashwi Yadav by the Enforcement Directorate underlines the ongoing intensity of this investigation into the alleged land-for-jobs money laundering case, signaling a continuation of the legal proceedings in this high-profile matter.
