Lok Sabha Polls Phase 1: India is gearing up for its Lok Sabha Elections 2024, with the first phase set to commence on April 19. Voters will cast ballots for 543 seats in the Lok Sabha, India's lower House of Parliament.
With 102 constituencies spread across 21 states and Union Territories (UTs), the first phase of voting for the 18th Lok Sabha elections is all set to commence on April 19, 2024. The counting of votes will be held on June 4.
Polling will be held in all seats of Tamil Nadu (39), Rajasthan (12), Uttar Pradesh (8), Madhya Pradesh (6), Maharashtra (5), Uttarakhand (5), Assam (5), Bihar (4), West Bengal (3), Arunachal Pradesh (Both of two seats), Manipur (Both of two seats), Meghalaya (Both of two seats), Chhattisgarh (1), Mizoram (Lone seat), Nagaland (Lone seat), Sikkim (Lone seat), Tripura (1), Jammu and Kashmir (1), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Sole seat), Lakshadweep (Sole seat), Puducherry (Sole seat).
On April 19, 2024, during the Phase 1 polls of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, certain establishments will remain open
In Uttarakhand, the General Administration Department has issued a directive declaring a public holiday for tomorrow. Similarly, the Tamil Nadu government has also announced a public holiday on April 19.
Additionally, banks in the following cities - Aizawl, Itanagar, Jaipur, Kohima, Chennai, Agartala, Dehradun, Shillong, and Nagpur - will remain closed on April 19, 2024, due to the upcoming general elections.
