Lucknow man shoots father dead in fit of rage over NEET pressure, chops body parts, hides in drum

PTC News Desk: A 21-year-old man allegedly shot his father, dismembered the body, and concealed it in a drum at their residence in Lucknow after facing repeated pressure to prepare for the NEET entrance exam, police said.


The body of the 50-year-old victim, Manvendra Pratap Singh, who owned Vardhman Pathology, was found inside a drum at his home after a missing person’s complaint was filed on February 20. During questioning, his son, Akshat Pratap, reportedly broke down and confessed to the crime.

According to police, the accused said his father often scolded and pressured him about preparing for NEET, leading to frequent arguments. Akshat, a BCom student who had previously completed Class 12 with Biology, lived with his father and sister. Their mother passed away in 2018.
