Maharashtra minister Munde resigns as close aide arrested over Sarpanch's murder
PTC News Desk: Maharashtra minister Dhananjay Munde has resigned after one of his close aide was arrested in connection with murder of sarpanch in Beed district in back in December last year.
Nationalist Congress Party leader Munde tendered his resignation to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and further sent to Maharashtra Governor for approval. Munde held multiple portfolios including fodd and civil supplies stepped down on the orders of CM Fadnavis after his close aide Walmik Karad was arrested for his alleged involvment in the murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog village.
Addressing reporters from the Maharashtra Assembly media stand, Fadnavis said that he had accepted the NCP minister's resignation and had subsequently forwarded it to Governor CP Radhakrishnan.
Following Munde's resignation, Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) MLA Aaditya Thackeray took a dig and said that a mere resignation will not suffice the Fadnavis government should be dismissed.
"Mere resignation won't suffice... The government should be dismissed. Law and order in Maharashtra has deteriorated—there are murders happening, rapes occurring, and no one is safe in this state. We have seen photos of the accused and how they brutally killed Santosh Deshmukh. The accused should be publicly hanged, Aaditya Thackeray said
