Man detained in Gorakhpur for 'threatening' to kill PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath

Deoria, July 11: A 45-year-old man has been detained by the police in Gorakhpur for allegedly issuing death threats to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath through the UP-112 helpline number.

The call, made late on Sunday night, was traced to a mobile phone located in Devrad village of Harpur Budhat in Gorakhpur district. Authorities apprehended a man named Sanjay Kumar on Monday morning in connection with the incident, according to Deoria Kotwali Station House Officer (SHO) DK Mishra.


Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused, who identified himself as Arun Kumar and claimed to reside in Bhujauli Colony of the city, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of making the threatening call.

A case has been registered, and the accused is currently being interrogated by the police.
