Man threatens to attack Narendra Modi Stadium on Oct 14, arrested
PTC News Desk: The Ahmedabad crime branch has detained a man for allegedly sending an email threatening to attack the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14, officials said.
According to the crime branch, the accused, identified as Karan Mavi, was arrested in Rajkot.
"On October 9, a threat email was received by the official ID of BCCI. It stated that there would be an explosion in the Narendra Modi Stadium, located in the Motera area, on October 10, and that everyone would shudder," Neeraj Kumar Badgujar, Additional CP (Crime Branch) stated.
Mavi, a native of Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district, was detained under Indian Penal Code sections 505 (1) B (public mischief by an act intended to cause fear or alarm among the people) and 506 (2) (criminal intimidation).
During the inquiry, it was discovered that he had previously served a two-year prison sentence in Madhya Pradesh.
According to the Additional Commissioner of Police, a racket has been busted selling bogus tickets to the India-Pakistan World Cup match.
"For the sale of fake tickets, we formed a team and investigated. We got to know that there was a gang of four people who were selling fake tickets by doing colour xeroxes of original tickets and changing their serial numbers. The four accused have been arrested, and more than 150 fake tickets have been recovered," he further said.
He added that there are four security features in original tickets that customers can check.
"The ticket has multiple layers, of which the middle layer is red. Second, there is a void feature; one can see the void word behind... Third, there is a watermark named macrolane, which can be seen by a magnifying glass. Other than this, the barcode number of all tickets is different."
Cricket fever is at an all-time high around the world as the World Cup begins with two tremendously exciting matches. The 'Men in Blue' are full of confidence after winning the Asia Cup and an ODI series against five-time World Champions Australia.
On October 14, Pakistan and India will face off in the world's biggest stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
'The Men in Green' will be out for vengeance after India thrashed them in the Asia Cup Super Four stage last month, winning by a thumping 228-run margin.
