PTC News Desk: At least 11 people have died in Jammu and Kashmir after landslides and flash floods triggered by incessant rainfall battered large parts of the Union Territory on Friday, officials confirmed.

In Reasi, seven people lost their lives due to landslides reported from remote areas, while four people were killed after a cloudburst struck higher reaches of Rajgarh on Friday and triggered flash floods. The gushing waters swept away houses, damaged several structures, and left some completely washed off, according to officials. Rescue and relief operations are in progress.

The incident occurred just a day after separate cloudbursts claimed five lives and left 11 missing in Uttarakhand. In Manali, parts of the town along the river were washed away, while the Jammu-Srinagar highway continued to remain closed for the fifth straight day.

On Friday, another cloudburst struck the Gurez Sector in Bandipora district’s Tulail region of north Kashmir. Although it triggered fear among residents due to sudden heavy rainfall, no casualties were reported.
