MEA issues travel advisory, urges Indians to avoid visiting Iran, Israel till further orders

PTC Web Desk: The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday issues travel advisory, urging Indians to avoid visiting Iran, Israel till further orders amid escalating tensions.

"In view of the prevailing situation in the region, all Indians are advised not to travel to Iran or Israel till further notice. All those who are currently residing in Iran or Israel are requested to get in touch with Indian Embassies there and register themselves. They are also requested to observe utmost precautions about their safety and restrict their movements to the minimum," the MEA said in its statement.

The MEA also requested all those who are currently residing in Iran or Israel to get in touch with Indian Embassies there and register themselves.

India has joined France in advising its citizens against travelling to Israel or Iran due to rising tensions in the Middle East. The situation has escalated following an Israeli air strike on the Iranian embassy in Syria. In response, Tehran has vowed to retaliate against Israel, urging the US to step aside. Iran has been threatening retaliation for the deaths of two of its generals killed in an airstrike in Damascus last week, an attack it attributes to Israel, though Israel has not confirmed its involvement.

In anticipation of potential attacks from Iran or its regional proxy groups, Israel has activated additional defense units. This comes as Israel recently withdrew its troops from the war-torn city of Khan Yunis after months of conflict and is now preparing for potential operations against Hamas militants in Rafah, near the Egyptian border.
