Missed warning ? Man warned NIA about Jyoti Malhotra months before her arrest for spying for Pakistan
PTC News Desk: Months before Haryana based YouTuber was arrested on the charges of spying for Pakistan, a man on social media had flagged Jyoti Malhotra to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Known for her travel channel 'Travel with Jo' which has nearly 4 lakh subscribers, Malhotra has become a crucial part as the agencies have intensified their nationwide crackdown on espionage network.
A social media account in the name of Kapil Jain had flagged Jyoti Malhotra's suspicious behaviour to NIA in May 2024.
“NIA, please keep close watch on this lady..she first visited and attained Pakistani embassy function then visited Pakistan for 10 days now she is heading for Kashmir... may be some link behind all these [sic],” Jain had posted, sharing a screenshot of Jyoti Malhotra’s YouTube page.
The prophetic warning has managed to garner over one million views following Jyoti's arrest.
“Wow! This guy found her activities suspicious one full year before she was arrested!! Respect!” wrote one X user in the comments section. “You have got to question the security agencies when a random Twitter user cracks a case about a Pakistani spy literally a year before them,” another wrote.
Despite projecting the image of a popular travel influencer on YouTube and Instagram, Malhotra's case underscores increasing concerns about social media being exploited for covet intelligence operations.
Investigators are still working to uncover the depth of Malhotra’s role and the larger espionage network functioning in the area.
