Nainital Forest Fire: Flames reach High Court Colony, affect traffic movement

Nainital Forest Fire: A forest fire in Uttarakhand worsened on Friday with the flames reaching Nainital's High Court Colony. The Nainital administration has dispatched forest department officials and army forces to combat the fire. If the situation worsens, they may use helicopters to assist in the firefighting efforts.

Given the possibility of the fire spreading to sensitive areas of the Indian Army near the Pines, efforts are being made to extinguish it as soon as possible. In response to the fire, the district administration has prohibited boating in Naini Lake.

The Nainital administration has dispatched 42 personnel to put out the fire. "We have deployed 40 Manora Range personnel and two forest rangers to extinguish the fire," Nainital Divisional Forest Officer Chandrashekhar Joshi said.

In the previous 24 hours, 31 fresh forest fires were reported around the state, damaging 33.34 hectares of forest area. Three people were arrested in Rudraprayag on Friday for attempting to set fire to the forests.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed personnel to remain vigilant and take measures to avert fires by coordinating with all departments.
