Ordinance row: SC refuses to grant interim stay, issues notice to Centre
Ordinance row: Supreme Court on Monday refused to grant an interim stay on the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023, promulgated by the Centre regarding control of services in the national capital.
DY Chandrachud, Chief Justice of India, stated, "We will issue notice to amend the petition to implead LG,” while posting the matter for hearing on July 17.
The AAP government claims in its petition that it is an "unconstitutional exercise of executive fiat" that attempts to "override" the Supreme Court and the basic structure of the Constitution. In addition to quashing the ordinance, the Delhi government had requested an interim stay.
