In a congratulatory message posted on his official social media account, PM Modi hailed the Indian athletes for their stellar performances at the 19th Asian Games.
India's quest for 100-plus medals became a reality as the women's kabaddi team clinched the gold medal by defeating Chinese Taipei. PM Modi announced that he will host the Indian contingent from the Asian Games on October 10, expressing his intention to personally interact with the athletes who have illuminated the Hangzhou Games with their exceptional individual and team achievements.

The Indian women's kabaddi team secured a 14-9 lead against Chinese Taipei in the gold medal match at the Asian Games 2023. While the match had previously ended in a 34-34 tie during their campaign opener, the Indian raiders scored crucial bonus points in the first half. Chinese Taipei took the lead in the second half, amassing 16 points, but the Indian raiders rallied in the second half, securing two bonus points that shifted the tide in their favor.
With their stellar first-half performance, the Indian women achieved a 26-25 victory over Chinese Taipei, securing India's 25th gold medal and bringing the country's total medal tally to a historic 100. This milestone is a testament to the exceptional talent and dedication of India's athletes on the Asian stage.
