PM Modi highlights Raebareli: Criticises 'shahi' dynasty's politics, touts AIIMS inauguration

PTC News Desk: In his speech at Rajkot while inaugurating five AIIMS facilities, including AIIMS Raebareli, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the contrast between the political legacies of the Congress 'Shahi family' and his own developmental initiatives.

PM Modi emphasised that while the Congress leadership historically focused solely on political maneuvering in Raebareli, he prioritised delivering tangible infrastructure like AIIMS. He underscored his commitment to fulfilling promises by mentioning his pledge to establish AIIMS Raebareli, which he initiated and subsequently inaugurated, fulfilling his commitment to the region.

Reflecting on broader national progress, PM Modi pointed out the significant expansion of AIIMS facilities under his government, contrasting it with the previous decades of limited development in healthcare infrastructure. He highlighted the rapid establishment of seven new AIIMS facilities within a span of ten days, showcasing his administration's proactive approach to healthcare advancement.

The mention of Raebareli in PM Modi's speech carries political significance, given its status as a longstanding Congress stronghold represented by Sonia Gandhi for multiple terms. With Sonia Gandhi opting out of contesting from Raebareli this year, speculation abounds regarding the Congress's candidate selection, fueling anticipation of a competitive electoral battle in the constituency.

Despite its historical association with the Congress, Raebareli has witnessed a gradual erosion of the party's influence, exemplified by its loss in all assembly segments during the 2022 elections. This shift indicates a potential shift in the political landscape of the region, setting the stage for an intense electoral contest regardless of the Congress's candidate choice, which may or may not include Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
