Pune Porsche accident: Driver offered cash, threatened to take blame for crash, says official
Pune Porshe accident: Amid the ongoing investigation into the Pune car accident case that claimed the lives of two young engineers, Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar revealed details about the driver's initial statement and subsequent actions taken by the police, saying that at first, the police disbelieved the driver's statement in which he claimed to be driving the car.
"When the driver was first brought to the Police Station from the scene, the first statement he made in writing was that he drove the car. But the police at the time did not believe the driver's account, and after a preliminary investigation, they recorded an offence against the juvenile accused since it was obvious prima facie that the juvenile accused was driving the vehicle," Kumar said.
"The family threatened the driver to accept the blame. The driver was confined. The driver was not behind the wheel. The family of the accused minor attempted to bribe the driver," according to the Pune Police Commissioner.
On Saturday morning, the Pune Police Crime Branch arrested the grandfather of the minor. Amitesh Kumar, the commissioner of Pune City Police, said that the accused's grandfather had been arrested. A supplementary FIR has been filed against him under IPC Sections 365 and 368.
