Raja Raghuvanshi murder: Sonam Raghuvanshi files bail petition citing 'flaws' in 790-page charge sheet
PTC News Desk: Sonam Raghuvanshi, accused of murdering her husband Raja Raghauvanshi on their honeymoon, has filed a bail application citing 'flaws' in the charge sheet.
The judicial magistrate first class of Sohra sub-division will hear the petition on September 17.
Sonam Raghuvanshi's counsel Additional Public Prosecutor Tushar Chandra filed the petition on Friday, however the prosecution sought time to examine the case records. Her counsel has also claimed “flaws” in the charge sheet filed in the murder of Indore-based businessman Raja Raghuvanshi.
Last week, police submitted a 790-page charge sheet against Sonam, Raj, and the three hitmen—Vishal Singh Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi.
Raja Raghuvanshi was killed by three contract killers in a secluded parking lot near Weisawdong in Sohra while on his honeymoon. Police have alleged that the murder was orchestrated by his wife, Sonam, and her boyfriend, Raj Kushwaha.
In May, both Raja and Sonam were reported missing from Meghalaya, prompting a nationwide search operation. Raja’s body was later discovered, after which Sonam surrendered to police in Uttar Pradesh, while investigators from Meghalaya arrested the remaining suspects.
