Rajasthan's famous kathavachak Sadhvi Prem Baisa’s death sparks political storm, CBI probe demanded

PTC Web Desk: The sudden death of renowned kathavachak and religious preacher Sadhvi Prem Baisa in Jodhpur has triggered political and social ripples across Rajasthan, with Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) chief and Lok Sabha MP Hanuman Beniwal demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into what he termed “suspicious circumstances” surrounding her demise.

Sadhvi Prem Baisa, a prominent spiritual figure in western Rajasthan, was rushed to a private hospital in Jodhpur from her Boranada ashram on Wednesday evening by her father and spiritual mentor Veeram Nath, along with an aide. Doctors, however, declared her brought dead.

Dr Praveen Jain, who examined her at the hospital, said attempts were made to revive her, but there was no response. According to the doctor, Nath informed him that the sadhvi had been suffering from fever and that a compounder had been called to the ashram. She reportedly lost consciousness shortly after being administered an injection.

The doctor further stated that an ambulance was offered to transport the body to a government hospital for post-mortem, but the family declined and took her body away in a private vehicle.

Veeram Nath said his daughter had been battling cold and cough for some time.

“Five minutes after the injection, she became unconscious,” he said, while also demanding a thorough investigation into the incident.

Police sources confirmed that the compounder involved has been detained for questioning and that his medical equipment has been seized as part of the inquiry.

Meanwhile, Hanuman Beniwal urged Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Director General of Police Umesh Mishra to take immediate cognisance of the case.

“A high-level and impartial investigation is necessary to uncover the truth behind her death,” the MP said.

Suspicion deepened after an Instagram post appeared on Sadhvi Prem Baisa’s official social media account nearly four hours after her death. The post featured her greeting followers and carrying a message that hinted at injustice and a farewell to life.

The caption spoke about her lifelong dedication to Sanatan Dharma and expressed faith that justice would prevail, if not during her lifetime, then after her death.

Confirming the authenticity of the post, Nath said it was uploaded from her mobile phone. “A fellow guru maharaj forwarded the message,” he added.

The sadhvi and her father were also at the centre of controversy last year after a video showing them hugging went viral on social media. Prem Baisa had dismissed the allegations, calling the clip a deliberate attempt to malign a father-daughter relationship. The police had later arrested an individual for circulating the video.
