Rajkot fire tragedy: Death toll rises to 32 in massive fire at gaming zone; SIT formed

Rajkot fire tragedy: The death toll in the devastating fire that engulfed a gaming zone in Rajkot reached 32, authorities confirmed on Saturday. 

The tragedy has left the city in shock, with many grieving the loss of loved ones and calling for stringent safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.


A massive fire broke out at a gaming zone in Gujarat's Rajkot city on May 25 evening resulting in the loss of 32 lives including children.    

SIT formed in Rajkot fire tragedy

The head of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate the Rajkot fire tragedy case on Sunday said that a detailed probe will be conducted and responsible persons will be identified. 

"It is an unfortunate incident...for the inquiry into this an SIT team has been formed...which department has done what all, a full probe will be conducted on this. Who is responsible for this and what all mistakes have happened, to prevent such incidents from happening in the future, what needs to be done, all these things, we will go to the root of the matter. A complete probe will be conducted," Subhash Trivedi, SIT Head Subhash Trivedi. 

EAM Jaishankar expresses condolences on Rajkot fire tragedy

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday expressed his condolences on the loss of life in the Rajkot fire incident which has claimed at least 32 lives including children.

"I express my deepest condolences on the loss of life in the fierce fire in Rajkot. My deepest condolences to all those affected by this tragedy," Jaishankar said in a post on 'X'.

A massive fire broke out at a gaming zone in Gujarat's Rajkot city on May 25 evening.

"Deeply grieved at the loss of lives in the terrible fire in Rajkot. Our thoughts are very much with all those impacted by this tragedy," the Union Minister had earlier posted on 'X'.

Three arrested in Rajkot fire tragedy

Three people -- Nitin Jain, manager of the TRP Game Zone, and Yuvraj Singh Solanki, the owner of the game zone -- are among the arrested. 

Gujarat Director General of Police has instructed the Commissioners of Police and District Superintendents of Police to inspect all the game zones in the state and to close the game zones running without fire safety permission. The director general of police has told to carry out this procedure in coordination with the fire officers of the municipalities and municipalities and the local system. 

The Rajkot fire tragedy has cast a long shadow over the city, highlighting critical gaps in safety protocols and emergency preparedness.
