Rohtak ASI suicide row: FIR filed against late IPS Officer Y Puran Kumar's wife
PTC News Desk: In a dramatic turn of events, an FIR has been registered against late IPS Officer Y Puran Kumar's wife in connection with Rohtak ASI Sandeep Lathar's suicide case.
The FIR names four people, IPS officer Y Puran Kumar’s gunman Sushil, Kumar’s wife P Avneet Kaur, Bathinda Rural MLA Amit Ratna, and one other person. Officials have so far refused to provide a copy of the FIR, citing ongoing investigations.
The registration of FIR marks significant development in both the cases, which have drawn massive attention in Haryana.
Meanwhile Rohtak ASI Sandeep Lathar's post mortem was conducted at PGI, Chandigarh under the supervision of experts. The autopsy was conducted jointly by the medical teams of PGI and civil hospital.
The specific allegations against the accused individuals have not been disclosed yet as the investigation is currently underway. Further details are expected to surface as the probe advances.
The case has sparked nationwide attention following the tragic suicides of two senior Haryana police officers and allegations of caste bias, corruption, and extortion within the state police. Reports suggesting possible links between police personnel and gangsters have further deepened the force’s credibility crisis.
The controversy began with the death by suicide of IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, who had accused senior officials of harassment and caste-based discrimination. Then, on October 14, ASI Sandeep Kumar — who was probing corruption charges against Puran Kumar — allegedly took his own life, leaving behind a note and video accusing Kumar and his family of bribery, extortion, and sexually harassing women officers.
