SC extends Satyendar Jain's interim bail till next date
PTC News Desk: Supreme Court extended interim bail granted to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satyender Jain in a money laundering case until the next hearing date.
When Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi informed the court that the matter had been partly heard by a two-judge bench of justices AS Bopanna and Bela M Trivedi, the matter was deferred.
On Monday, the matter was listed before a bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma.
Due to the absence of Justice AS Bopanna, Senior Advocate Singhvi urged the court to adjourn the case.
However, Justice Trivedi stated that the interim order cannot be extended for that long and that they must consider these aspects.
However, Senior Advocate Singhvi stated that the interim order cannot be changed as the bench which was hearing the matter did not assemble.
He urged the court to list the matter in January because other judges will be sitting that month.
The court adjourned the case and extended Jain's interim relief until the next date of hearing.
Jain had surgery on July 21. On May 26, the Supreme Court granted Satyendar Jain interim bail in the money laundering case for six weeks, but with several conditions, including not speaking to the media or leaving Delhi without permission.
The Supreme Court also allowed Jain to seek medical treatment at any hospital of his choice. The court has stated unequivocally that interim bail is considered in medical situations.
