Shocking double murder in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar: Woman, teenage son killed, family’s driver arrested
PTC Web Desk: A horrifying double murder in South Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar has left the city stunned after a woman and her teenage son were found brutally killed inside their home late Wednesday evening.
The incident came to light around 9.43 pm on July 2 when Kuldeep Sewani, husband of the deceased, alerted the police after repeated phone calls to his wife and son went unanswered. On reaching home, Kuldeep noticed bloodstains on the staircase and the entrance gate of the house, prompting him to contact the police.
Responding to the distress call, a police team led by the local Station House Officer (SHO) arrived at the scene and forcibly entered the locked house. Inside, they discovered the bodies of 42-year-old Ruchika Sewani and her 14-year-old son. Ruchika was found dead in the bedroom, while her son’s body was located in the bathroom. According to officials, both victims had suffered fatal injuries inflicted by a sharp-edged weapon.
Ruchika Sewani co-managed a garment shop in the bustling Lajpat Nagar Market with her husband. Their son was a Class 10 student.
The prime suspect, 24-year-old Mukesh, who hails from Bihar and lived in the Amar Colony area, was employed by the Sewanis as a driver and helper at their shop. He was arrested while allegedly attempting to flee the area.
During initial questioning, Mukesh reportedly admitted to committing the murders. He claimed he was enraged after being recently scolded by Ruchika, which led to the violent attack.
A murder case has been registered, and further investigation is currently underway to determine the full sequence of events and possible motives.
