South Delhi Triple murder case cracked: Youth confesses to killing parents, sister in fit of rage
Delhi Triple murder case: The brutal murder of a couple and their 23-year-old daughter in South Delhi's Neb Sarai has been cracked within hours, with the police stating that the killer was none other than the couple’s son. Arjun (20) has confessed to murdering his family, citing humiliation by his father and a property dispute as motives.
The crime took place on Wednesday morning when the bodies of Rajesh Kumar (51), his wife Komal (46), and their daughter Kavita were found in a pool of blood at their home. The gruesome killings occurred on the couple’s 27th wedding anniversary. Arjun had initially reported the incident to the police, claiming to have found the bodies upon returning from a morning walk. However, discrepancies in his statements and evidence gathered from CCTV footage led to his arrest.
Arjun informed the police and relatives of the murders, portraying himself as a distraught family member. However, investigators quickly became suspicious when they found no signs of forced entry, nor any indication of items being stolen. CCTV footage also revealed that no outsider had entered the house during the suspected time of the crime.
Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Jain confirmed that under sustained interrogation, Arjun confessed to stabbing his parents and sister while they were asleep. He admitted to harbouring resentment against his father, an ex-serviceman, who he claimed regularly scolded and humiliated him in front of neighbours. Arjun also foumd that his parents intended to leave their property to his sister, Kavita, further deepening his grudge.
According to police, Arjun meticulously planned the murders. Choosing his parents’ wedding anniversary for the crime, he staged an alibi by going for a morning walk around 5.30 a.m. and returning home to "discover" the bodies.
The police statement revealed that Arjun had been contemplating the crime for weeks. "He premeditated the plan to eliminate his family members. He left the house early to create a web of deception," the statement read.
Arjun, a second-year Bachelor of Arts student at Delhi University and a trained boxer who won a silver medal in a state-level competition, completed his schooling at Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan. Despite his achievements, he reportedly felt neglected and isolated within his family.
Neighbours described the family as close-knit and well-liked in the community. Originally from Haryana, they had moved to Delhi 15 years ago to provide better opportunities for their children.
