Stampede at 'Pushpa 2' screening: A 35-year-old woman was killed and her nine-year-old son suffered serious injuries at the 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' premiere at a Hyderabad theatre on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre when massive crowds gathered to see the film's star actor, Allu Arjun.

Outside the movie theatre, chaos broke out as fans rushed to see the actor, who had arrived with music director Devi Sri Prasad for the screening. According to authorities, the theatre's main gate collapsed under the crowd's pressure.

The cops resorted to lathi charge to control the mob. Despite efforts to maintain order, the stampede turned fatal. The injured child was brought to a private hospital and is currently being treated.

According to the police, thousands of people had come to the theatre not only to watch the film but also to meet members of the film's production team. To avoid further escalation, police reinforcements were called in.

Pushpa 2: The Rule, directed by Sukumar, is a sequel to the 2021 hit 'Pushpa: The Rise' and is set to open on 10,000 screens in several languages. Plans for a 3D version were dropped due to post-production delays, although screenings will still take place in 2D and 4DX formats. The film stars Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, with Fahadh Faasil reprising his role.
