Tamil Nadu: Woman, lesbian partner arrested for killing her own baby, days after father's claim
PTC News Desk: A man from Tamil Nadu has accused his wife and her female partner of killing their five-month-old son.
The incident occurred on November 5 in Chinnati village, Krishnagiri district, when the infant reportedly became unconscious while being fed and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
According to the complaint filed by Suresh, a 38-year-old daily wage laborer, his wife Barathi (26) and her partner Sumithra were responsible for the child’s death. Police have since arrested both women. Suresh and Barathi also have two daughters, aged four and five, while their son—the youngest—was born just five months ago.
Initial reports indicated that the baby was rushed to Kelamangalam Government Hospital after falling unconscious during feeding, where doctors pronounced him dead. The child was later buried.
The case took a new turn when Suresh alleged that his wife had deliberately killed the baby. Upon checking Barathi’s phone, he reportedly found photos and voice messages suggesting her involvement with Sumithra and evidence pointing to foul play. He then approached the police.
Investigators revealed that Barathi and Sumithra had been in a relationship for about three years. Their relationship reportedly became strained after Barathi gave birth, as the two could not spend much time together—something police believe may have led to the tragic incident.
Suresh also provided police with an audio recording in which Barathi allegedly admitted to killing the infant. Based on this evidence, the Kelamangalam Police arrested both Barathi and Sumithra. The investigation remains ongoing.
