Three Indians abducted at Diamond Cement Factory in Western Mali amid terror attacks

PTC Web Desk: India has expressed serious concern over the abduction of three Indian nationals in Mali, following a series of terrorist attacks in the country. The Indians, who worked at the Diamond Cement Factory in Kayes, were taken hostage on July 1 by armed attackers.

In response, the Indian government has urged Mali’s authorities to do everything possible to ensure the safe and quick release of the kidnapped individuals. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that the Indian embassy in Bamako is in constant contact with local authorities, the police, and the factory management to secure the release.

The abduction has not been claimed by any group, although the Al-Qaeda-linked group, Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), has taken responsibility for other attacks in Mali recently.

The MEA has condemned the kidnapping and called it a violent and deplorable act. It also said that senior officials are closely monitoring the situation and working at all levels to help release the kidnapped nationals as soon as possible.

The ministry has also advised all Indians in Mali to stay cautious and stay in touch with the embassy for updates and assistance.
