Tiger Shroff firing: Shooters reportedly targeted Aamir Khan originally before attacking Shroff
PTC News Desk: Police investigating the October 18 firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff are looking into reports that the attackers initially planned to target actor Aamir Khan.
According to media reports, citing police sources, the suspects allegedly changed their plan after finding it difficult to reach Khan. They reportedly chose Shroff because his movements made him easier to approach. Investigators are also examining the role of alleged handlers who may have provided information to the suspects while they were trying to escape.
Aamir Khan was reportedly original target
The suspected attackers reportedly spent nearly a month in Mumbai tracking Aamir Khan’s movements. They allegedly visited the area around his residence at least three times.
However, Khan’s frequent travel for film shoots and the long periods he spent at home reportedly made it difficult for them to approach him. The suspects then allegedly turned their attention to Tiger Shroff, who reportedly played football at a park in Juhu on most Sundays. The shooting took place at the same location on October 18.
Police sources reportedly linked the alleged plan involving Khan to threats he received in July, which were attributed to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Investigators suspect that the three alleged shooters received real-time updates about the police operation from handlers using encrypted internet-based calling and messaging applications.
When television channels aired footage showing the suspected attackers, one of them allegedly received an urgent message warning them to leave the area because their faces had been shown publicly.
The three accused—Phool Singh, 18, Rehan Rahisuddin Ansari, 18, and Rithik Mahto, 22—were arrested by Kota Police in Rajasthan on October 19 while travelling by train.
Investigators reportedly found that Rehan was in regular contact with others through internet-based services such as Signal or Zangi.
Suspects allegedly changed transport
According to police reports cited by PTI, the alleged handlers informed the suspects when police recovered the motorcycle used in the attack in Andheri. They also reportedly shared updates about developments during the suspects’ train journey.
The three men allegedly used different modes of transport to avoid being caught. They travelled by motorcycle and train, took a cab and planned to board a bus from Surat. However, a delay at the bus terminal reportedly forced them to take another train.
Kota Police eventually arrested them after receiving information from Mumbai Police.
Weapons recovered as probe expands
The firing took place in Mumbai’s Juhu area on October 18. Police said at least two men fired several rounds at Tiger Shroff’s car before escaping on a motorcycle.
Reports said around five to six rounds were fired. Shroff escaped without serious injuries, while his driver and a bystander were injured. The motorcycle allegedly used in the attack was later recovered in Andheri.
Police are continuing to investigate the alleged conspiracy, the role of the handlers and how the suspects obtained information about the police operation.
