Today's LPG price surge: Today, the public sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have implemented a price hike of Rs 21 per cylinder for commercial LPG gas cylinders. This increase exclusively affects commercial cylinders and does not impact domestic LPG cylinder rates. The escalation in price follows the recently concluded Assembly elections in five states.

After this increment, the retail cost of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has surged to Rs 1,796.5. Similarly, the updated prices in other major cities are Rs 1,749 in Mumbai, Rs 1,968.5 in Chennai, and Rs 1,908 in Kolkata. It's noteworthy that prior to this adjustment, commercial LPG cylinder prices were reduced by Rs 57 on November 16th.

There have been no alterations in the cost of the standard 14.2 kg subsidized domestic cooking gas cylinder. Consumers using regular LPG cylinders have neither witnessed a price hike nor experienced any modifications in their cylinder rates.

Last month witnessed a surge in the price of commercial gas cylinders, increasing by Rs 100. On the initial day of November, the LPG cylinder price escalated significantly by over Rs 100. These elevated rates affected the 19 kg commercial gas cylinders. This surge coincided with the celebration of Karva Chauth, causing financial strain amid the festivities. The price on October 1 was Rs 1731.50, and by November 1, it surged by Rs 101.50, reaching Rs 1833 per cylinder. However, by November 16, the cost was slashed, dropping by Rs 57.05 to Rs 1775.50.

The rise in commercial gas prices is poised to impact various sectors. The food industry and restaurants will witness a noticeable effect, potentially leading to increased expenses for dining out, impacting the budgets of the general public. Moreover, travel expenses might also surge, affecting people's overall expenditures.
