Union Budget 2026-27: What gets cheaper and what gets costlier ?

PTC News Desk: The Union Budget 2026–27 is under close scrutiny as it has a direct bearing on household spending and consumer prices. Among the most anticipated aspects of the Budget is the list of goods that are likely to become cheaper or more expensive following changes in taxes, duties and policy decisions.

Each year, the government revises customs and excise duties with the aim of encouraging domestic manufacturing, regulating imports and stimulating demand. A reduction in duties generally leads to lower prices for consumers, while higher duties tend to push up the cost of certain products. As Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman delivers her Budget speech, greater clarity is expected on how these measures will impact daily-use items, including essential commodities and consumer goods.

Here is the complete list of items that are expected to become cheaper or costlier under the Union Budget 2026–27:

List of items that got cheaper

- Leather products will be cheaper.

- Mobile phones and EV batteries to be cheaper.

- Microwave Oven to be cheaper.

- 17 cancer medicines to be cheaper.

- Solar panels to be cheaper.

Items that got costlier

- Alcohol

-Imported cosmetics

-Luxury watches

-Foreign cars
