UP shocker: Man sexually assaults, kills minor cousin hours after she tied rakhi to him; accused arrested
PTC Web Desk: A shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh has come to light, shaking the conscience of humanity. A 14-year-old girl from Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered by her cousin on Raksha Bandhan. As per reports, the incident took place just hours after the girl tied rakhi to the accused on Raksha Bandhan.
The accused has been identified as Surjeet (33). It is learnt that he visited his uncle's house to get rakhi tied by his cousin sister. He reportedly consumed alcohol the same night and allegedly raped his 14-year-old cousin while she was sleeping. In order to make it look like a suicide case, Surjeet murdered her and hung the body from a noose.
However, the police got suspicious during the investigation. Surjeet did not allow family members to speak and answered all queries to the police, which made cops suspicious.
The police said the father of the girl was sleeping in another room when the crime took place. The body was found the next day and he reported the matter to the police. The police said since blood stains were found at several locations in the house, they were sure that it was not a suicide case.
The police also found that whenever they tried to question the family members of the girl, Surjeet would speak for them and was always with them.
Auraiya SP Abhijeet Shankar said victim's body was sent for a post-mortem examination, which confirmed rape.
Surjeet has been taken into custody and he has confessed to the crime.
