UP shocker: Retired IAF officer killed for property; police say sons hired contract killers
PTC Web Desk: The police have revealed a chilling family conspiracy behind the murder of a retired Indian Air Force (IAF) employee in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district. Five days after the killing, investigators claim the man’s own sons planned the murder, allegedly driven by a property dispute.
The victim, Yogesh (58), a former IAF personnel from Baghpat, was shot dead on December 26 while returning home to Ashok Vihar Colony in Loni. Two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire and fled the scene.
According to the police, Yogesh had been asking his sons to vacate his house, which reportedly led to growing tension within the family. Investigators believe the dispute escalated into a murder plot fuelled by greed for property. The police allege the sons hired a neighbour, Arvind (32), to carry out the killing.
UP constable among accused shooters
During investigation, it emerged that Arvind allegedly executed the crime with his brother-in-law Naveen, a serving constable posted in Kaushambi district. The two men fired multiple rounds at Yogesh, killing him on the spot.
Arvind was arrested on Wednesday evening and later produced before a Ghaziabad court, which sent him to 14 days of judicial custody.
The police recovered a .315 bore country-made pistol, along with live and used cartridges, from Arvind. Meanwhile, the accused constable Naveen and the victim’s two sons remain absconding. Police teams have been formed to track them down.
Further investigation is ongoing.
