War updates: BSF foils major infiltration bid in Jammu’s Samba, neutralises 7 Jaish terrorists backed by Pakistan Rangers
PTC Web Desk: In a significant counter-infiltration operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) eliminated seven heavily armed terrorists attempting to cross the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir during the early hours of Friday. The militants are believed to be associated with the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), according to intelligence sources.
The operation commenced late Thursday night, around 11 pm on May 8, after BSF personnel detected suspicious movement near the Samba border area. Acting swiftly, the BSF engaged the infiltrators and successfully thwarted their entry into Indian territory.
Confirming the operation, the BSF posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “At around 2300 hours on 8 May 2025, BSF foiled a major infiltration bid at the International Boundary in Samba district, J&K.” Footage shared from the encounter showed BSF forces striking Pakistan’s Dhandhar post and neutralising the terrorists involved.
This attempted infiltration follows a sharp spike in tensions between India and Pakistan. Just a day prior, Pakistan launched a failed offensive using drones and missiles to target Indian military facilities in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. This came in retaliation to India's preemptive airstrikes under Operation Sindoor on May 7, which targeted terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK), reportedly killing approximately 100 militants.
India’s military action was a direct response to the brutal Pahalgam Terror Attack, where 26 civilians—mostly tourists—lost their lives in a targeted assault on religious grounds.
