Who is Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati? Self-styled godman accused of molestation, forgery in Delhi

PTC Web Desk:  A self-styled godman, Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, also known as Parth Sarthy, has gone missing after being accused in a major scandal involving sexual harassment, forgery and misuse of influence at the Sri Sharda Institute of Indian Management in Delhi.

Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, who served as the director of the institute, is facing multiple cases after several female students came forward with allegations of misconduct. The police confirmed that 32 students pursuing PGDM courses under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) scholarship were questioned, of whom 17 gave statements accusing him of using abusive language, sending obscene messages via WhatsApp and SMS, and making unwanted physical contact.

The first complaint against Saraswati was lodged on August 4 at Vasant Kunj North police station. Later, on August 25, a separate case of cheating and forgery was filed after a Volvo car carrying a fake diplomatic registration number – 39 UN 1 – was discovered in the institute’s basement, allegedly linked to him.

Following the allegations, the Sri Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mahasamsthanam Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham publicly distanced itself from Saraswati, stating that his actions were “illegal, inappropriate, and detrimental” to the institution’s reputation.

Reports also suggest that some members of the institute’s faculty and administration pressured students to comply with Saraswati’s demands. Meanwhile, the police have conducted raids, examined CCTV footage, and sent seized material from the institute for forensic examination.

As of now, Saraswati remains absconding, while the investigation into the molestation, harassment, and forgery charges continues.
