Woman, five children killed as blaze engulfs house in Meerut, short circuit suspected
PTC News Desk: Six people including five children and a woman were killed after a fire broke out at a house in Meerut's Lisadi Gate area. preliminary investigation suggests that the fire was triggered by short circuit.
“The incident occurred at Kidwai Nagar around 8 pm on Monday. Seven people were admitted to the civil hospital with burn injuries. The doctors later declared six of them dead,” Meerut SP Avinash Pandey told reporters at the hospital.
Senior Superintendent of Police Avinash Pandey said that police received information about the fire and immediately launched a rescue operation.
Meerut District Magistrate Vijay Kumar Singh said that, prima facie, the blaze appears to have been caused by an electrical appliance.
Further investigation into the incident is underway.
